What's your worst beat of all time?

After watching some Reds bettors get (lightly) hosed, I got an idea. I figured this would be the place to come for this, so here it goes.

What was the worst beat you ever suffered? There are bad beats, and then there are REALLY bad beats. I think I have one, maybe two, that you all would agree are worse than any losses you've endured when you add the money lost and the circumstances. So I'll post my bottom 2 later. But I'd like to hear from you guys. I'm sure there are some HORROR stories. They can be from any sport. Just no Poker stories, please.

Just to get things started, here's my seventh worst loss of all time (that's right, there are six worse than this.)

NBA...Back in Feb I think. Sort of repressed this one because it hurt so bad. LA -5.5 at NY on a Thursday night. Lake Show up by THIRTY-FOUR ****ING POINTS with 53 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Up 30 at start of 4th. Lead gets not just whittled down, but these knicks think they actually have a chance. Kobe's drinkin Sprite, Shaq's nursing his big toe, Madsen's throwin up rocks. Lead is 20 with 6:25 left. 10 with 1:20 left. ****ING HOUSTON AND SPREE ARE HITTING EVERYTHING!!!! Down to 6 with 12 seconds left. Lakers at the line...hit 1 to go up 7. Knicks fire it down the floor, hit a three with 3 ticks left to beat me. I didn't even have to watch when the shot went up. "CAN I ****ING BET THAT THIS SHOT'S GOING IN!!????!! IS THERE A LINE ON THAT???" Lost just two bills on that one.

That's a start. BAD BEAT, but there are six worse than that, when you figure the money involved AND the miracles it took to beat me. Let's hear some of yours.

That was the game where Mike Mcmahon came in and mopped up, and nearly won the game for them.

I believe it was a football game between USC/Ariz ST back in the early 90s. Had USC +8, game went to OT, Arz ST scores to go up by 7, USc throws an interception for a TD to lose by 13. I may have teams backwards but it was unbelievable.

College basketball wash st vs somebody. It was about 4 years back and I had the under in the game. Guy misses a free throw with 1.3 ticks left and player heaves a prayer....swish.....to send it into overtime..the game went into three overtimes and went over by 3 points.....only a 40 dime swing.......

I had the same game! But your facts are a little mixed up...

Last play of the game USC Qb about to get sacked throws the ball away, for some reason

they rule it a fumble and it gets returned all the way...

BTW it was in 1997 , OT wasn`t around in the early 90`s...IT WAS THE FIRST YEAR FOR OVERTIME , it was the first game I had seen go into OT , I didn`t even know the rule yet...

That game is way up on my all-time list

Someone told me they changed the rule a couple of years ago so the ball would have been dead as soon as the tournover took place. Worst you can lose in OT now is by 8. IDon't know if thats true but I sure could have used that rule that year.

Why would you make your biggest ever wager on a Thursday game? It's very hard to predict how teams are going to play off such a short week, as the Lions showed in 2001.

What made that game worse for me...I was listening to it thru the squiggly line on the TV ...I couldn`t see anything..I had it large for me...The whole game KEITH JACKSON was fuc king up , getting the calls wrong...THAT was when I realized good ole Keith Jackson had lost some off his game...He would say something good would happen for my team USC then he`d come back "my mistake" he screwed up the whole game long...Here I was listening to it thru that line in the TV yelling at Keith get it right! And the last play when they returned it I didn`t no WTF happened!

i had a teaser this year with the nets and memphis. I had the nets teased to -1 against the blazers and memphis at a pick. The nets were up the whole game by 7-10 points. Well the last 26 seconds the nets were up by 3 blazers foul nets hit 1 of 2 free throws. to go up by 4 with 2 seconds. Mo Cheeks calls a to with 3 seconds down by 4 wtf!!!! Inbounds damon stoudamire hits a 3 with no time. Nets win by 1 my teaser pushes about a 7 dime swing!!! I love the nba!!! Always there is something strange going on in the last 30 seconds either with the line or the total. Like last night's game. I had the over 180 had to sweat that out!!! I guess for every person that has a bad beat their is 1 who gets the W>>>>

Gonzaga/Indiana this past November in Maui..had Indiana -2 1/2, they are up 17 with 5 mins to go...

Up 3 with like 5 secs to go...Gonzaga shoots a three, its a AIR BALL and the jackass catches it and put in a 2 pointer at the buzzer and Indiana wins by 1, i never felt sicker.

Ms/Tribe a couple years ago, when the Ms were up like 12-2 in the 7th inning, with the best bullpen and record in the bigs...Tribe put on one of the greatest comebacks ever, and I got to watch every second of it as it was the ESPN Sunday night game.

Cincy/Arizona...college hoops...Probably about 6 years or so ago...The Bearcats were either tied or up 2 with seconds left. The line was a virtual pick em, so I would have either won or it would have went into OT. Miles Simon dribbles up to half court and throws a prayer up that went in, and the asshole just throws his arms up in the air even before the shot went in. It's like I felt like he shot it in my face. I never liked that guy ever since then, which is why I'm glad he never did anything in the NBA. Little rat bastard.
